Lowndes County Clerk Records Office
Beth C. Greene is listed as the Lowndes County Clerk of Superior Court and Clerk of Court. The Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority lists Greene as elected in 2012, with county code 92 and Karen Waldon as chief deputy. The GSCCCA page identifies the courts managed by the clerk as Superior, State, and Juvenile courts. The local Clerk of Court page also connects the office to forms, e-filing, real estate e-file guidance, and related court contacts.
The clerk is not the same office as the Lowndes County Clerk for county-government records. The County Clerk page tells users to decide whether they need the County Clerk or the Clerk of Court. It directs criminal, civil, divorce, and child-custody court records to the Clerk of Superior Court at 229-333-5127. County records, such as Board of Commissioners records and older minutes, go to the County Clerk by phone at 229-671-2400 or by email at bocrecords@lowndescounty.com.

The official Clerk of Court source page appears in the Lowndes County Clerk of Court screenshot.
The page is the local starting point for clerk contacts, forms, e-filing notes, and links that separate court records from general county records.
Lowndes County Clerk Duties
The Lowndes County Clerk of Superior Court / Clerk of Court maintains case records for the local courts named in the state map and GSCCCA listing. That includes Superior Court, State Court, and Juvenile Court case-record functions. Superior Court records can include felony criminal cases, divorce, title-to-land disputes, equity matters, higher civil cases, judgments, and appeals. State Court records can include misdemeanors, traffic misdemeanors, citations, and civil matters within that court's jurisdiction. Juvenile Court access is restricted and is not handled like a normal public docket.
- Receive and maintain pleadings, orders, judgments, dockets, and case files for Superior Court.
- Support State Court case records, including misdemeanor, traffic, citation, and civil matters within that court.
- Maintain Juvenile Court records, subject to the stricter public-access limits that apply to juvenile matters.
- Provide copy and certified-copy access when the record is public and the correct request channel is used.
- Support Georgia e-filing and real-estate e-file processes through the state systems named by the county.
The GSCCCA clerk listing reinforces the court split. Its Lowndes County clerk result identifies the clerk and court responsibilities from the statewide clerk authority.
That statewide listing is useful when a requester needs to verify the official clerk name, county code, office contacts, or courts managed by the Lowndes County clerk.
Request Lowndes County Certified Copies
A certified copy is a clerk-authenticated copy used when a plain printout will not be enough. Certified copies are often requested for court orders, divorce decrees, judgments, criminal dispositions, or other records that must be filed with an agency, employer, school, licensing body, or another court. A request should name the court, case number if known, party names, document type, and whether a certified or plain copy is needed.
- Identify the correct court: Superior Court, State Court, or Juvenile Court through the Clerk of Court, and Probate Court for probate or marriage matters.
- Search the Lowndes Odyssey portal or re:SearchGA if a case number, party name, or hearing record may be available online.
- Call 229-333-5127 or contact the court-specific clerk number to confirm whether the document is public, whether certification is available, and what fee applies.
- Submit the request by the method the clerk provides, such as in person, mail, or an approved records request path.
- Pick up the copy or request mailing after the clerk confirms cost, processing, and identity or authority requirements if any apply.
Some records are not open to the public even if a case exists. Juvenile records, sealed or restricted criminal records, and records with protected personal data may require court authorization or may be redacted before release.
Lowndes County Request Form Fields
The captured County Open Records Request Form is not a substitute for every court-copy process, but it shows the county's documented fields, timing choice, and fee language. The County Clerk page says court cases should go to the Clerk of Superior Court, while non-court county records go through the County Clerk. For a court case copy, use the form fields as a checklist, then confirm with the Clerk of Court whether a court-specific process is required.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Request type | Yes | Choose inspection and copy, or obtaining copies. |
| Description of requested records | Yes | Use detailed court, case, party, date, and document information to reduce search time. |
| Timing choice | Yes | The form includes a three-business-day option if records are available, or a later requested timetable. |
| Daytime telephone | Yes or unspecified | Phone contact helps staff resolve unclear record descriptions. |
| Email address | Optional or unspecified | Useful for cost estimates or status contact. |
| Name, address, signature, date | Yes | Requester identity and mailing information are part of the form. |
Under the county form language, administrative and copying fees may be charged for search, retrieval, copying, and supervision. A clear request can reduce the time needed to locate the record.
Lowndes County Clerk Fees
The county open-records form gives fee rules, but captured official sources did not list every court-certified-copy or filing-fee amount. The County Open Records Request Form cites O.C.G.A. Section 50-18-71. It says fees may include search, retrieval, copying, and supervising access, based on the hourly rate of the lowest-paid full-time employee with the needed skill and training. There is no charge for the first 15 minutes.
| Item | Amount or rule captured |
|---|---|
| First 15 minutes of search/retrieval | No charge under the county form's fee language. |
| Staff search/retrieval time after 15 minutes | Hourly rate of the lowest-paid qualified full-time employee. |
| Letter or legal-size paper copy | 10 cents per page. |
| Nonstandard documents or electronic media | Actual cost. |
| Certified copies or specialized records | Higher fees may apply if provided by law; exact court amount not captured. |
| Large estimates or unpaid prior requests | Prepayment may be required if the estimate exceeds $500 or past requests were unpaid. |
For a certified court copy, the clerk's quoted fee controls. Open-records copy fees and court certification fees are related but not always the same charge.
Lowndes County Clerk Forms
The Clerk of Court page links local forms and e-filing resources. Lowndes County has chosen Odyssey eFileGA as its courts software and e-file partner, and the county describes eFileGA as a way to open cases and file documents from a single website to many Georgia courts from anywhere, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Real estate e-file users in Georgia need a participant ID and should register through efileregistry.org.

- Lowndes Electronic Court Offerings for Odyssey Portal, re:SearchGA, eFileGA, and online payment explanations.
- Odyssey eFileGA for electronic filing where the Georgia system applies.
- GSCCCA for Georgia clerk and real-estate e-file support information.
The State Bar of Georgia e-filing reference explains Georgia e-filing in broader state terms.
That state-level e-filing context helps distinguish filing a document from searching or buying a copy of an existing Lowndes County clerk record.
Online and In-Person Clerk Access
Lowndes County's Electronic Court Offerings page describes the local Odyssey portal as local and deep, hosted by Lowndes County BOC. It says the portal provides real-time web access to case, calendar, and party information from a PC, tablet, or mobile phone. It also says users can view the register of actions, judgments and orders, court docket information, calendars, and pay fines and fees online. The county also links re:SearchGA, described as a global and broad Tyler-hosted portal for case records and documents across multiple jurisdictions.
Access channels remain broader than online search. For Superior, State, and Juvenile records, the Clerk of Court office handles in-person and phone questions. GSCCCA lists separate contact numbers for Real Estate at 229-333-5125, Superior Court at 229-333-5129, State Court at 229-671-3310, and Juvenile Court at 229-333-5135. Jury information is listed by the county at 229-671-3313.
Mail access matters when a certified copy, older file, or sealed-record question cannot be resolved through the portal. The clerk's mailing address is P.O. Box 1349, Valdosta, GA 31603. A mailed request should include the court name, party names, case number if known, document name, copy type, return contact information, and a request for the clerk to confirm the current fee before processing. For urgent court dates or same-day filing questions, phone contact or an in-person visit is the more reliable route.
Note: County-government records and court case files are not the same request, even when both involve Lowndes County offices.
